We are celebrating Seniors Week by hosting a Garden Tea Party event in our newly established Community Sensory Garden space.   

This event will be delivered over three consecutive days:

Tuesday 18th July          9.30am - 11.00 am 
Wednesday 19th July    9.30am - 11.00 am
Thursday 20th July        9.30am - 11.00 am

Event will be free to attend

Due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions and our commitment to ensuring everyone's safety in our community each session will have very strictly limited attendance numbers. 

Event will offer delicious morning tea and refreshments, giveaways, live entertainment and the opportunity to explore the new sensory garden space which we hope will inspire people to reminisce and share stories of years gone by.

to deliver a youth music project in 2020

LOCKYER JAM

Project funded by RADF   

 " The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government 

and Lockyer Valley Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland"

This project evolved from community networking & identifying a need for a project that connects with youth in Lockyer Valley.

Project Purpose / Objectives:


  • Value and promote importance of diverse arts and culture
  • Build local cultural capacity, innovation and community pride
  • Use music as pathway / tool to connect with disadvantaged youth
  • Encourage opportunities for creativity
  • Encourage learning, exploring and self-development of musical skills / talent
  • Empower participants to explore / develop personal creativity
  • Encourage self-development / confidence / self-worth building / ability to make better choices
  • Foster and build musical talent within the Lockyer Valley
  • Provide access / opportunity for disadvantaged youth to learn and engage and explore arts / culture in community
  • Positive Mentoring / Guidance provided by local professional / amateur artists / tutors 
  • Provide a welcoming inclusive safe environment to encourage participation / attendance
  • Develop a sense of co-operation and ownership 
   Project delivery period:            April - May 2020
 
  Lockyer Jam will deliver nine three hour music jam sessions / workshops in both Gatton and Laidley townships.
  Sessions provide opportunity to:     Explore the world of music and unleash hidden skills.       
  Learn to play drums, base guitar, keyboard, perform etc.
  Sessons will be delivered by profession tutor / mentors holding all legislative requirements.

Craft sessions have started up in 2020 at Lockyer Community Centre

Held fortnightly on Thursdays 1.00 pm  - 2.30pm
Cost starts from $6.50 per person inc. basic materials and refreshments
Additional costs may apply if participants are making more involved projects.

Sessions include but not limited to:
Card making, Artist Trading Cards, Basic Knitting, Dream Catchers, Scrapbooking etc.
Sessions are participant driven so project themes may change through group planning,  you have opportunity to work on a project of your choice.
