On 31st July 1985 the Gatton Shire Youth Support Committee was incorporated. On 8th September 1986 this committee changed its name and on 2nd February 1987 became known as the Gatton Community Information and Support Group Inc.
On 10th of October 1989 the committee was then incorporated as the Lockyer Information and Neighbourhood Centre inc.
Today we are trading as the Lockyer Community Centre and are currently funded by Queensland Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Support.
Our Purpose
Operate a community neighbourhood centre that will provide a focal point within the community where people can obtain information, assistance, advocacy and support to access government and corporate services and products.
Provide community members with strategies and skills to enhance their self-resilience to cope with changes in the community, economic and health situations.
Inspire and engage with others in responsible community development. - Research and develop programs that meet community needs and build positive connections.
Support the development of formal and informal networks throughout community groups.
Provide opportunities for cultural development and inclusiveness within the community.
